John Randolph Seay went peacefully to be with the Lord on Friday, February 13, 2026, in Austin, Texas. His loving family was by his side, able to surround him with love and say their goodbyes before his passing. John was born on August 19, 1930, in Wichita Falls, Texas, to Albert and Delta Seay. He married the love of his life, Charlotte, in March 1964. They raised their family in Midland, Texas, where John had a 60-year career as an independent oil and gas operator and business owner. John and Charlotte later moved to Austin to be closer to family. John was an Army veteran and was honored to have served his country during the Korean War. He enjoyed playing golf at Midland Country Club and Horseshoe Bay, where he and Charlotte had a second home for many years. John was a skilled pilot who owned multiple planes during his 45-year flying career. John was a long-time member of Rotary International where he held a number of leadership positions including District Governor. He also served as past president of the American Heart Association in Midland and was a former member of the Board of Directors of High Sky Children's Ranch. He was a devout Christian and an Elder in the Presbyterian Church. John cherished his friends, family, traveling around the world, and the love of his life, Charlotte, who preceded him in death, passing in August 2020. We rejoice knowing they are together again in the Kingdom of Heaven. John is survived by his loving family: Daniel Seay, wife Cheryl, Sam Seay (predeceased), Steven Seay, wife Annie, Sheri Smith, husband David, Scott Seay, partner Joshua Dunning; grandchildren Crystal Meadows (Jeff), Austin Seay (Holly), Dustin Smith (Kesha), Cameron Smith (Kristina), Abbie Brougher (Blake); great-grandchildren Victoria and Allyson Seay, Ketta and Keelan Smith, Stella and Wylder Meadows, and Oliver Brougher. John lived 95 remarkable years, had a zest for life, and lived it to the fullest. He is deeply loved and will be greatly missed. A Celebration of John's life will be held at a later date.
