Kenneth Rhea Morehead

Mr. Kenneth Rhea Morehead, age 79, was born on June 25, 1939 to Arthur Cox Morehead and Chloe Bledsoe Morehead in Gate City, VA. and passed away on Friday, August 3, 2018 in Springhill, LA. A Celebration of life will be held 2:00 pm, Saturday, August 11, 2018 at North Arkansas Street Church of Christ. Mr. Morehead was a mechanic and worked for the Midland County Maintenance Dept., retiring after 20 years of service, and was also an independent AMSOIL dealer. He was a very kind and giving man, serving the Midland community by volunteering with Meals on Wheels, the Main Street Church of Christ Clothes Closet, and by building houses for Habitat for Humanity. It was not unusual for him to anonymously pay for the meals of veterans or those in uniform. He was a faithful Christian and member of North Arkansas Street Church of Christ and was also a member of the Shongaloo Masonic Lodge 352. He enjoyed fishing, boating, and living on the lake. He also loved spending time with family, friends and his dogs, Tootsie and Yoda. He is survived by his wife of 9 years, Nobie Strange Morehead of Taylor, AR; son, Alan Morehead of Shongaloo, LA; three daughters, Kristi Hoey and husband, Mike of Spartanburg, SC, Kimberly Ball and husband, Ron of Jacksonville, FL, Karla Burns of Midland, TX; three grandsons, Isaac Morehead of Midland, TX, Shawn Jenkins of Minden, LA, John Markovich of Jacksonville, FL; six granddaughters, Shanna Jenkins of Richmond, IN, Felicia Markovich of Jacksonville, FL, Meryl Burns of Andrews, TX, Erin Fehrenbach and husband, Peter of Columbus, OH, Lauren Burns of Nashville, TN, Tommie Penrod of Vandalia, OH; three great-grandsons, Rylan Morehead, Parker Fehrenbach, Preston Fehrenbach; two great-granddaughters, Evie Wheeler, Ava Wheeler; two sisters, Helen Minton-Crabtree and husband, Paul of Bristol, TN, Jackie Haven and husband, Richard of Rockvale, TN; brother, James Morehead and wife, Jean of Kingsport, TN; brother in-law, William Strange and wife, Mary of Shongaloo, LA; sister in-law, Flo Harr and husband, James of Shongaloo, LA; niece, Pamela Jenkins and husband, Ken of Shongaloo, LA; nephew, Clay Strange and wife, Amanda of Shongaloo, LA; as well as a host of great-nieces and nephews. Mr. Morehead was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, O'Neil Morehead and Bill Morehead. A memorial service will be planned for a later date.
