Marjorie Locker was born on April 2, 1922, in Manhattan, Kansas, one of ten children. Her parents, Stephen P. Clark and Gertrude Fisher were immigrants from Ireland. Mr. Clark supported the family with construction work, and they later moved to Florida where he did hurricane damage estimates and rebuilding. Marjorie attended nursing school, volunteered in the USO and also cared for her younger brothers and a sister, as she had lost her mother at a very young age. She married William M. Roberts, USN, and they lived in New Orleans as well as in Miami. Later divorced, Marjorie moved to San Antonio and worked at Fort Sam Houston in order to support her two small children.

In 1952 Marjorie moved her family to Midland to be closer to her father, a longtime widower, who ran a construction company, later along with his sons. He built many beautiful homes in Midland, as well as parts of St. Ann's School.

Marjorie worked as the secretary for St. Ann's School, and also as a bookkeeper for Agnes Fitzsimmons cafes and restaurants. Later she worked in the rectory for the parish priests and for her beloved Very Reverend Thomas J. Kennedy, OMI. In the 1970's Marjorie met Walter A. Locker, Sr. They were married in 1972, and spent eighteen years together. They were able to travel and spend some leisure time until Mr. Locker became ill during the last years of his life. Marjorie tenderly cared for him in their home for many years until he passed away in 1991.

Priests and other religious always held a special place in Marjorie's heart, and she kept in contact with many of them over the years, as well as donating generously to several charities. Her sister in San Antonio, Mary Flinn, was also very involved in Catholic causes, especially the Oblate Priests and Birthright.

Mrs. Locker is survived by her children, Marilyn Bartlett, CRNA, of Corpus Christi, TX; William J. Roberts, M.D. PhD. his spouse Brenda, and daughters, Meredith Roberts, of Oak Ridge, TN; and Dr. Amy Roberts of Corte Madera, CA. She also leaves one sister, Mrs. Cece Perry of Orange Park, FL; three brothers, Mr. Raymond Clark of Miami, FL; Mr. Gilbert Clark of San Antonio, TX; and Mr. Richard Clark of Hendersonville, NC; their spouses, children and many other nieces and nephews.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, a donation to the Oblates of Mary Immaculate, Catholic Relief Services or the charity of your choice be given as a memorial gift in Mrs. Locker's name.

Also, the family would like to thank Mrs. Locker's physicians, ministers, caregivers and friends, as well as Hospice of Midland for their kind care and concern.
