Ramon Cervantes Obituary

Ramon Acosta Cervantes, 80, of Midland, passed away, surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, August 8, 2012, at Hospice Inpatient Unit in Midland. He was born on August 15, 1931, in Terlingua, TX, to the late Sebastian and Maria Cervantes. He was raised in Ojinaga, Chihuahua, Mexico. He later met and married Teodora Ramos on March 22, 1952. The couple moved to Midland in 1962. Ramon worked for Hanley Petroleum Company, until his retirement in 1995. Ramon enjoyed wood crafting, working on cars, and tinkering with different objects, and being creative. He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. He is survived by his wife, Teodora Cervantes of Midland; his son, Ramon Cervantes of Midland; his daughters, Carmen Sanchez of Wylie, Irma Hinojosa and Olivia Edmondson, both of Midland; his brothers, Ruben Cervantes of Pecos, Sebastian Cervantes of Monahans, and Manuel Lopez of Presidio; his sisters, Teresa Cervantes and Yolanda Cervantes, both of Alpine; and fourteen grandchildren; thirty great-grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Ramon is preceded in death by his parents, Sebastian and Maria Cervantes; his brothers, Bruno Cervantes, Benito Cervantes, and Armando Cervantes; and his daughter, Sylvia Carrasco. Rosary will be held Sunday, August 12, at 7:00 p.m., at Heavenly Gate Chapel. Funeral Mass will take place on Monday August 13, 2012, at 3:00 p.m., at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, with Father Edward de Leon, OMI, officiating. Interment will follow at Resthaven North Cemetery. Arrangements were entrusted to Heavenly Gate Funeral Home. Family messages and condolences may be emailed to: [email protected].
