Sylvester Wilson Obituary

Sylvester Wilson Sr. (Silver) was called home Monday, November 29, 2021 in Corpus Christi, Texas with family by his side. He was born the youngest of nine on October 30, 1935 in Hearne, Texas to Norma and Nelson Wilson. Silver married Doris Camper in 1962. They moved to Midland in 1965. During his life, he served in the United States army until 1969. But, his main interest was driving trucks. He worked at Berg Motor Company until he landed his dream job driving big rigs for Merchants Motor Lines for over 30 years. Upon retirement, Silver babysat his youngest grandson and repaired lawnmowers for many people. He could build anything out of nothing and his hearty laugh always filled a room. Mr. Wilson is survived by his wife of 59 years, Doris; daughter, Patricia Wilson Johnson Corpus Christi, Texas; son, Dr. Sylvester (Bruce) Wilson Jr. Corpus Christi, Texas; daughter, Dr. Regina Wilson Midland, Texas; grandsons, James Patrick Johnson (Tiffany) Humble, Texas; Jamerson Johnson Kingwood, Texas; son-in- laws James Johnson and Michael O'Hare, sister-in-law Josie Watson and a host of family and friends. I was scrolling through obituaries looking for a friend of mine from my church and I saw Mr. Wilson´s name and I couldn´t believe that I saw his name. I knew Mr. Wilson from Alameda Oaks Nursing Home. His room was across from my mom´s room #406 and his room #407. He was a very kind and gentle man. It was very rare that he´d be complaining about anything. He was a man that would offer you food off of his plate, if not he would give it to you. He would always be singing in the hallway. He would be happy in the mornings for breakfast because I would take all of the residents who would eat in the dining room some sweet bread. He was happy when I would show up with the boxes of donuts and cookies . But I stopped going to the nursing home. My mom and I got to celebrate our last birthday on January 16,2019 I turned 46 and she turned 69 and she passed away on January 23,2019. But I know that they aren´t in no more pain and they are in a better place. And I´m pretty sure that Mr. Wilson is singing loud and clear. My condolences to all his family and friends. He´s another angel looking over his loved ones
