Thomas R. Simpson

Thomas R. Simpson, age 89, passed into the arms of the Lord on March 8, 2021. He passed from this life after a short illness. He was born in Tuscaloosa, Alabama on July 21, 1931. He served in the Air Force for 8 years and continued his dedication to the military for the next 33 years serving in the Texas National Guard and reaching the rank of Colonel. During his service, he was awarded the Texas Medal of Honor, presented to him by the governor. Tommy worked for Mobil Oil for 40 years, his only employer. Tommy was known to his friends and family as a kind and generous person. He was an outgoing man of many, many talents. He was a 32nd degree Mason and served as a Shriner clown, winning clown of the year in 1995. He was a member of the Rotary for many years. While living in Andrews, he served as a deacon for 15 years, as well as an elder at Southwest Church of Christ. After moving to Midland, he was a faithful member of the Fairmont Park Church of Christ. While at Fairmont, he was an active member of the 39ers group. Tommy was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Louise and his oldest daughter, Wanda. He is survived by his wife, Jane; children, Robert Simpson and wife JoAnna, Lettye and husband Richard Tubbs, Len Partain and wife Leann, and Angela Philley; 9 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. The family will receive guests from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Friday, March 12, 2021 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 13, 2021 at Fairmont Park Church of Christ, with interment following at Resthaven Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Blake Bredemyer, Brandon Bredemyer, Randy Bredemyer, Brian Callaway, Nelson Patton, and James Varner.
