Tracy Evans Obituary

Tracy Evans
01/24/1969 - 01/22/2026
Tracy Shannon Evans, 56, of Midland, Texas, died on January 22, 2026. She was born January 24, 1969, in Detroit, Michigan, to Debra Begley.
Tracy lived an unconventional and unforgettable life marked by grit and perseverance. She endured significant trauma, becoming a mother at a young age and experiencing profound loss, including the death of a child. Her life included many years of hardship and wandering, yet she carried a tenacity that only Tracy could. She loved to sing and spent a season of her life in Nashville pursuing a dream of becoming a country music star. She collected stories along the way, including her oft-told claim that she once slapped Tanya Tucker during an argument, a story that reflects her spunk and personality.
Tracy had been known and loved by The Field's Edge since around 2013. She became formerly homeless and came home to the Village in December 2022, where she lived in a tiny home she dearly loved. She considered herself a 'Nonna' to all children and kept treats for them in her house. Tracy loved Jesus, and through joy and pain, He granted her perseverance to the end. Those who knew her take comfort in the hope that she is now fully healed and at rest with her Savior.
She was a fixture on her porch and loved riding her scooter up and down the road. Tracy also had a habit of announcing celebrity passings, posting about them on Facebook, and then making sure everyone around her heard the news. The village is still undecided on who will handle celebrity death announcements from here on out.
She is survived by her mother, Debra Begley; her siblings; and a wide community of neighbors and friends. A memorial service was held at The Field's Edge on Friday, January 30th, followed by a community meal in Tracy's honor.
