William Burchard Obituary

William "Bill" Frank Burchard
01/12/1934 - 10/18/2025
William "Bill" Frank Burchard, 91, of Midland, Texas passed away on Saturday, October 18, 2025. A visitation will be held 5:00pm-7:00pm, Thursday, October 23, 2025 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home in Midland. A memorial service will take place 2:00pm, Friday, October 24, 2025 in the sanctuary of First Baptist Church.
William Frank Burchard, lovingly known as Bill, Mr. B, or Granddad, was born in Gonzales, Texas, on January 12, 1934, to Louis Henry Burchard and Mary Mildred Newberry Burchard. He graduated from Gonzales High School in 1952 and went on to earn his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Texas in 1957.
Bill began his distinguished career with Humble Oil and Refining Company in Houston, Texas, in June 1957. He worked for brief stints in Kingsville, Tacoma, and Alaska. He served in the army for six months and in the reserves for 6 years. He returned to Humble/Exxon, where he dedicated himself to the company until his retirement in August 1992. Most of his professional years were spent in the drilling department, the majority of which was based in Midland, Texas, except for a brief stint in Monahans.
On November 26, 1960, Bill married Glenda Kay Kirkland in Hollis, Oklahoma, after meeting in the church choir at First Baptist Church of Midland. His faith was central to his life; he was ordained a deacon at First Baptist Church in Monahans and served faithfully at First Baptist Church in Midland, teaching Sunday School to both 9th graders and 5-year-olds for nearly 50 years, serving as a deacon on nearly every committee.
Bill is survived by his beloved wife, Kay, and their three sons: Brent (wife Ellen), Blake (wife Trudy), and Jeff (wife Jana). He was a proud grandfather to nine grandsons-Haden (wife Bradi), Luke, Grayson (wife Megan), Tim (wife Jenni), Matt, Caden (wife Jae), Ben, Colson, and Holden-and a granddaughter- Kadie Lasater (husband Spencer). His legacy also lives on in his six great-granddaughters- Kadrie, Olivia, McKavett, Camber, Sunni Kay, and Lila Jane- and a great-grandson- Sloan. He is also survived by his brother, Robert Kenneth Burchard of Gonzales, Texas, and three nieces.
Bill's loves were many: his family, his career, his church, and above all, his faith in Jesus. He will be remembered for his unwavering devotion to his loved ones, his integrity, and his lifelong commitment to service. He leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and dedication that will continue to inspire all who knew him.
His favorite verse was I Corinthians 2:9. "...What no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man imagined, what God has prepared for those who love him." and boy did he love Him!!

Kay and family

Bill was one of the most sanctified people that I met. He did his Kingdom Assignment very well indeed. The church will miss him as I know all of you will

My deepest sympathies
