Yvette Renee Lathon

Yvette Renee Lathon, 55, of Midland, went home to be with her Lord, Jesus Christ, on Saturday, December 3, 2011, after fighting a long battle with cancer and other illnesses. Yvette was born on August 17, 1956, in Midland, TX, to Jerry Ransom and Annie Lathon, where she was raised and educated. Yvette graduated from Midland High School. Yvette had worked with Wee Care Child Care and Rainbow Christian Day Care for many years. Yvette had recently received her certification as a certified state child care teacher. Yvette enjoyed singing with the church choir and teaching children at church. She loved children and had reached and touched many young lives. She is preceded in death by her grandmother, Beatrice Curry, and grandfather, Edgar Lathon. Yvette is survived by her mother, Annie Lathon; her father, Jerry and wife, Doris Ransom of Midland; great godson, Jeremiah Bell of Midland; her goddaughter, Laquinta Bell of Midland; sisters, Sheliah Van Buren of Lubbock, TX, Valarie J. Ransom and Carla L. Ransom, both of Midland; her uncle, E.A. Curry of Midland; uncle, Timothy C. Curry of Austin; aunt, Hazel Griffin of Midland; special nieces, Sandra Barber of Midland, April Jordan of Ft. Worth; and numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins. Viewing will be Thursday, December 8, 2011, from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., at Lewallen-Garcia-Pipkin Funeral Home. Family will be receiving family and friends also on Thursday, December 8, 2011, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., at Lewallen-Garcia-Pipkin Funeral Home. Funeral services are set for Friday December 9, 2011, at 2:00 p.m., at Faith Temple Church of God in Christ, with pastors, W.C. Kennan and Floyd Johnson, officiating. Interment will follow at Serenity Memorial Gardens. Funeral services are under the direction of Lewallen-Garcia-Pipkin Funeral Home.
