Mrs. Beulah Berrier Leonard, 96, of 1936 Pipers Gap Road, Mount Airy, passed away Thursday afternoon, January 22, 2015, at Golden Living Center. Mrs. Leonard was born August 28, 1918, in Carroll County, VA, the daughter of the late George and Nancy Jones Berrier. Beulah was a homemaker and farmer, alongside her late husband, Thomas Kermit Leonard. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Roger and Pat Leonard and Darrell and Vela Leonard, all of Mount Airy; seven grandchildren, Sheila Pardue of Mount Airy, Monty Leonard of Mount Airy, Regina Tickle of Christiansburg, VA, Jason Leonard of Mount Airy, Lisa Acklin of Melbourne, Australia, Angie Hemmings of Dobson, and Christopher Leonard of Mount Airy; eighteen great-grandchildren; an expectant great-great-grandchild due in March; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Leonard was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Kermit Leonard; a daughter, Glenda June Leonard; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Hazel and Gilmer Bryant and Blanche and Arthur Leonard; and two brothers and sisters-in-law, Broadus and Annie Berrier and Allen and Hattie Berrier. A graveside service will be held Sunday, January 25, 2015, at 2:00 PM at Zion United Methodist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Barry Leonard and the Rev. Dennis Blackburn officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday from 12:30 until 1:30 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy and also at Mrs. Leonard's home immediately following the graveside service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Zion United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Barbara Blackburn, 1739 Pipers Gap Road, Mount Airy, NC 27030.
