Carolyn Delano Chand (Jacobs), 86, of Tucson, Arizona, passed away on May 22, 2023. Born on Jan. 21, 1937, in Mount Airy, Carol was a daughter to the late Mr. James P. Jacobs and Mrs. Addie Jacobs. An honor student and graduate of Mount Airy High School, Carol was a woman of remarkable strength and character. At 18, she valiantly chose to serve her country in the U.S. Army, retiring as a SFC E-7 after 20 years of dedicated service. Her commitment to excellence continued in her civilian life, where she was employed with the US Postal Service and later with Big Lots in Tucson, with many part-time jobs in between. Carol was also known for her generous support of the Big Brothers Big Sisters organization, investing in the lives of others with the same vigor she approached all her endeavors. Known for her adventurous spirit, Carol cherished laughter, friendships, and the loyal companionship of her dogs. She faced life's challenges with the heart of a warrior, never yielding, a trait that inspired many to seek her company and guidance. Carol will be lovingly remembered by her sons, Michael Crain, Stephen Crain, Lal Chand; daughter, Priscilla Chand; brother, James Jacobs. Her grandchildren, Madison DesMaisons, Ryan Crain, and Mason Crain will also cherish her memory. Carol reunited in death with her sisters, Louise Melton and Mary Jenkins, and her parents. Carol's service will be held with Military Honors, and Carol's honorable and full life will be celebrated on Friday, April 26, at 1 p.m., at the Arizona Veterans' Memorial Cemetery at Marana, 15950 N Luckett Rd, Marana, Arizona. Carol's enduring spirit and the memories shared will continue to provide comfort and inspiration to all who were blessed to know her. She remains a testament to the power of perseverance and a mother's deep love. Her family invites you to join them in remembering a well-lived life that embodied the truest forms of courage and devotion.
