Dorothy McFall

Mrs. Dorothy "Dot" Irene Martin McFall, 94 of Mount Airy, passed away peacefully on Monday evening October 27, 2025, at Surry Community Health and Rehabilitation in Mount Airy. She was born on September 29, 1931, in Wythe County, VA, to the late Lawrence Delbert Martin and Frances Spencer Martin. Mrs. McFall retired from Sara Lee and was of the Baptist faith. Left to cherish her memories are three daughters, Reba Hornaday, Judy and Johnnie Wood, Jr., and Peggy and Billy Avara; grandchildren, Paul H. Hornaday, Jr. and Chastity, Jason Avara, and Johnnie Wood, III and Wendy; seven great grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Glenn and Martha Martin; several nieces and nephews; and by several other family and friends-. In addition to her parents, Mrs. McFall was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Clinton "Bud" McFall; siblings, Josie Aline Martin Cooper, Myrtes Worrell, Cecil Dewey Martin, Linda Akers, Betty Caviness, Clyde Martin, and by a son-in-law, Paul Houston Hornaday. A graveside service will be held on October 31, 2025, at 3:00 PM at Oakdale Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday, October 31, 2025, from 2:00 PM until time to leave for the service at Moody's. Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice PO Box 325, Dobson, North Carolina 27017. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
