James Marshall Obituary

James Randolph Marshall, 85, of Hillsville, Virginia, passed away on Monday, May 22, 2023, at his home. Mr. Marshall was born in Carroll County, Virginia, to the late Marvin and Cova Nester Marshall. James was a knower of many things and a Mr. Fix-it of almost anything. He loved his family and loved tinkering on his beloved Studebakers. He could tell you anything you needed to know about old cars and loved going to cruise-ins. He also loved exploring just about any paved, gravel or dirt road he came across, just to see where it would take him. James loved walking the trails with Munro and in recent months, with his sweetheart, Linda, who helped him find his happy again. Survivors include his children, Stacie Ward (Glenn) and Greg Marshall (Sara); sisters, Charlene Nelson, Sue Beamer, and Fay Branscome (Don); his special friend, Linda Bowman; and his faithful dog, Munro. To honor his wishes, there will not be a service at this time and his ashes will be spread at his boyhood swimming hole. The family does hope to honor him this summer with a memorial cruise-in. He will be missed every single day. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.

I am so sorry to hear this. James would always attend the Point Pleasant School Open house we have in September. He bought most of the little student desks. I think he went to school there. We will certainly miss him.
