Joan Donaghue Obituary
Honeoye Falls: Born January 29, 1957, passed away suddenly on January 24, 2014 of Sudden Cardiac Arrest. She was predeceased by her parents Robert and Jane Virginia Burson. She is survived by husband Patric and children Kaitlyn, Melanie (Anthony) Del Vecchio, Meghan and Kevin, sisters Lynne (Keith) Burson, Marilyn (Tom) Lane, Lorraine Burson and nieces Sara (Kevin) Lane Lyons and Mary Jane Pearson. Joan graduated from Honeoye Falls Lima High School in 1975 and received a BA degree from SUNY Geneseo.
Joan devoted her life to the service of others. She worked as a teacher and counselor at Hillside Children's Center, ARC, RPC, FLDDSO, Rochester Rehab., and in her own daycare business. She volunteered as a Stephen Minister, Sunday School teacher and Nursery Care provider at Mendon Church. When she wasn't helping others, Joan loved being outdoors hiking and kayaking, yoga and listening to Smooth Jazz music with her husband, family, the Mendon Group and many close friends.
Joan was a compassionate, considerate and dearly loved mother, sister, spouse and friend. She was a calm and gentle free spirit. All who truly knew her are eternally grateful for having been blessed with being a part of her life.
Friends may call Wednesday, January 29, 2014 from 3-7 pm at the Merton H. Kays Funeral Home, Inc. 59 Monroe Street, Honeoye Falls. Her Life Celebration will be held Thursday 2 pm at the Mendon Church, 936 Cheese Factory Rd., Mendon, NY. In lieu of flowers please send donations in Joan's memory to Rochester Rehabilitation Center, Inc., Elmwood Ave., Rochester, NY. I am so sad to her of Joan's passing. She and I had our daycare in the same neighborhood and would get our kids together for walks and go to the playground.She was a great friend and Mom and put others first. Miss you Joan! Janice

I am so sorry for the sudden loss of Joan, she was my son's councelor at Venture I just talked to her in passing last week as I dropped my son off. I am in a bit of shock right now. My son told me she passed over the weekend and that everyone at Ventures were all very sad over her sudden passing. She was a Wonderful lady....condolences to her family and friends. Godspeed!

I had the pleasure of getting to know Joan while she worked at Halpern Ed (Hillside). She was so easy to be around--and so very caring and gentle. She was a gift to this world and those of us who had the honor of knowing her--we are better people because of her. I am sending healing energy to her family and freinds.
