John Earl Weddle, 91, of Mount Airy, passed away on Friday, Dec. 30, 2022, at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. He was born on Sept. 16, 1931, in Floyd County, Virginia, to the late Lonnie Vivian Weddle and Hannah Rittie Dickerson Weddle. John was a faithful member of Central United Methodist Church and was retired from Spencer's Inc. after 42 years of service. Mr. Weddle also served our country in the US Army. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 68 years, Euna Faye Hill Weddle, of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Todd Weddle and Tiffany; daughter and son-in-law, Gina and Mark Fletcher; five grandchildren, Casey and Chris Smith, Taylor and Sarah Weddle, Blake and Lauren East, Logan Weddle, and Nathan and Victoria Fletcher; three great-grandchildren, Amelia East, Luke Weddle, and Josey Smith; sister, Alice Weddle Summers; a sister-in-law, Ann Weddle; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Weddle was preceded in death by a sister, Iris Vivin Weddle Cole; and brothers, Lonnie Junior Weddle, Elvin Lee Weddle, Gleave Weddle, and Dale Weddle. Funeral services will be held on Friday Jan. 6, 2023, at 2 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Danny Miller. Burial will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends on Friday at the funeral home from 1 – 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Central United Methodist Church or to the donor's choice.
