Mr. Joseph Gordon "Joey" Owens, 54, of Mount Airy, passed away on Thursday, March 10, 2016, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home. He was born on October 22, 1961, to JR Owens and the late Doris Gordon Owens. Joey was a loving and devoted husband, father and son. He was active in the community, serving as Past Master of Granite Masonic Lodge 322 AF & AM and Past President of the Surry Shrine Club. He was of the Baptist faith. He worked with his wife and family at Pioneer Printing as long as his health permitted. Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Robin Lynn Nichols Owens; children, Joshua Nichols Owens, Emily Rose Owens and Jeremy Ryan Owens; a granddaughter, Brooklynn Rose Pruitt; a brother and sister-in-law, Mitchell and Donna Owens, and their children, Ashley Owens Rand and husband, Will; and Joslin Rene Owens; mother and father-in-law, Anita and Douglas Nichols; sisters-in-law and their families, Gina Nichols Tucker and husband, Trent and their daughter, Olivia, Vicki Nichols Fields and husband, Bodey and children, Madison and Brayton. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, March 12, 2016, at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Alex Martin officiating. Burial will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens at 2:00 PM with Masonic Rites to be conducted by Granite Masonic Lodge 322 AF & AM. The family will receive friends on Saturday at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy from 11:30 until 1:00 PM. The family has requested that memorials be made to the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Rd., Dobson, NC 27017 or to the charity of the donor's choice.
