Laura Ann Newman Doss, 89, of Mount Airy passed away Saturday afternoon, Jan. 8, 2022, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Surry County on Oct. 29, 1932, to the late Fannie Ada Newman. Mrs. Doss was a member of Shining Light Baptist Church. She will be dearly missed by all her family and many friends. She is survived by two daughters and son-in-law, Debra Reeves and Mike; Dawn Crutchfield; a son and daughter-in-law, Pastor Jonathan Doss and Sara; grandchildren, Michael Reeves and Emily, Matthew Reeves and Laurie, Amanda White and Zach, Daniel Crutchfield and Mandy, Nathan Crutchfield and Whitney, Jessica Harrison and Michael, Luke Doss and Abby, Ben Doss and Stephanie, Ellen West and Adam; and 17 great-grandchildren. In addition to her mother, Mrs. Doss was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Gray Doss. Funeral services will be held on Friday morning, Jan. 14, at 11 a.m. at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jonathan Doss, Pastor Jonathan Bass, and Rev. Elmo Hiatt officiating. Burial will follow in Union Hill Friends Meeting Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 9:30 – 11 a.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy.
