Mr. Leon Willard Golding, 83, passed away peacefully Saturday evening August 13, 2016, surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Golding was born November 20, 1932, in Surry County to the late Doc Golding and birth mother, Louie Flippin Golding. He was a member of Westside Baptist Church in Flushing, MI. He proudly served our county in United States Army and was retired from General Motors after many years of dedicated service. Mr. Golding is survived by his children and their spouses, Gregory L. Cagle and Holli of Jasper, GA, Bruce E. Cagle and Marylou of Prudenville, MI, Rodney D. Golding of Woodstock, GA, and Anissa Lyle and John of Davison, MI; twelve grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; his mother, Sarah Allie Flippin Golding of Lowgap; six sisters and four brothers-in-law, Mondell Lawrence of Dobson, Connie Barnes of Lowgap, Sarah Lou Beane and Don of Dobson, Lillar Hayes and Carl of Lowgap, Rachel Gentry and Roger of Chapin, SC, and Shyrell Boyette and Bob of Mount Airy; five brothers and six sisters-in-law, W. B. "Dub" Golding and Peggy of Lowgap, Artis Golding and Jean of Mount Airy, Roger Golding and Nancy of Mount Airy, Harold Golding and Trudy of Hillsville, VA, Joe Golding and Sandra of Boone's Mill, VA, and Judy Golding of Mountain Park; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his birth mother and father, Mr. Golding was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Tammie Jo Cagle; and a brother, Charles Gray "Charlie" Golding. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 17, 2016, at Moody Funeral Home Chapel at 11:00 AM with Pastor Phil Edwards and the Rev. Kevin Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in the Golding Family Cemetery with military honors conducted by VFW Memorial Honor Guard. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 16, 2016, from 6:00PM until 8:00PM at the funeral home.
