Melvin Eugene Snow, 72, of Mount Airy, passed away Tuesday, July 6, 2021, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. He was born in Carroll County, Virginia, on Oct. 18, 1948, to the late Charles William and Larthine Senter Snow. Mr. Snow was a well-known musician in the community who spread the gospel with his music. As he always said, "Every time that my fingers go down on the strings of my guitar that is my praise to my God." He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend whose smile lit up every room he entered. He is survived by his wife, Gloria Jean Snow; a daughter and son-in-law, Mitzi Snow Goad and Jamie; sons and daughters-in-law, Marty Eugene Snow and Rebecca, Randy Shawn Snow and Carla; five grandchildren; Randy Shawn Snow II and Christy, AJ Culler and Josh Holderfield, Miriam Culler, Eva Snow, Holly Snow; great-grandchildren, Mabry Holderfield, and Kix Holderfield; a sister, Ellen Sue King. In addition to his parents, Mr. Snow was preceded in death by a son, Darbie Drew Snow. A funeral service will be held Friday, July 9, at 11 a.m. at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Chris Oakley and the Rev. Jack Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in McBride Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday night from 6 until 8 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy. As Melvin would always say "Y'all be pretty."
