Nila Samter

Nila Rose Marie Samter, 86, of Mount Airy, graduated to Heaven surrounded by her family on Jan. 6, 2023, from natural causes. Nila was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse "Pete" and Eula Mae Starkey and six siblings, as well as her husband James Samter. She is survived by her three children, Judith, Sonya and Todd. She is also survived by several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Her firstborn's family includes (Dr. David and Judy Truban's children) Nathan and Crystal Truban, Matthew and Shannon Truban, Deveri and Brendon Albiston, Mitchell and Dr. Claire Truban, Britani and Brandon Johnson and David II and Stacy Truban. Her secondborn's family includes (Dr. Harold and Sonya Sackeim) Mandy and John Ruth, Sara Stack, Anne and Robert Carvajal and Phillip and Laura Stack. Her thirdborn's family includes (S/Sgt. Todd and Kelly Samter) Matthew Samter and Elizabeth Wisniewski. Her great-grandchildren are as follows from Judi's family: (Nathan) Brooklyn, Katelyn, Ashlyn; (Matthew) Cameron, Madison, Mackenzie, Skylar, Maximus; (Deveri) Elijah, Caleb, Benjamin, Simeon; (Mitchell) Katherine, Olivia; (Britani) Brayden (2006-2006), Emerson, Hudson, Ariyason, Benson (2022-2022); (David II) Myla and Thea. Her great-grandchildren are as follows from Sonya's family: (Mandy) Tristan Cirimpei (2000-2022), Haley, Charlie; (Sara) Lucas and great-great-grandaughter (2023); (Anne) Alana, *baby girl (2023); (Phillip) Lilli, Ella and Connor. The great-grandchildren are as follows from Todd's family: (Elizabeth) Maddix and Warren. There will be a public visitation held on Friday, Jan. 13, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home.
