Randall Wayne Butner Sr., 81, of Mount Airy, passed away on Sunday morning, Jan. 22, 2023, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem surrounded by his loving and supportive family. He was born May 9, 1941, in Forsyth County to the late Bynum Henry Butner Sr. and Sula Elizabeth Rierson Butner. He was one of eleven children. He was a master carpenter for 50 years, 35 of those were working with his brothers. He and his wife Debbie owned and operated Cousin Gary's Restaurant for many years. He made the best chicken and dumplings and loved his customers like his own family. In addition to his parents, Randall was preceded in death by his wife of 23 years, Deborah Ann "Debbie" Collins Butner; brothers, Bynum Henry Butner Jr., Robert Franklin Butner, Michael Dale Butner, Larry Dene Butner; and his sister, Coseyetta McClamrock. Surviving are his children, Wayne Butner and wife Debbie, Todd Butner and wife Debbie, Lori Culler and husband Mark, Daniel Butner and wife Tracey Young, Gina Erickson, Cindy Buckler and husband Rick, and Sheila Sootoo and her husband Steve; sisters, Janie Hamby, Helen Frazier, and Adelaide Palmer; and brothers, Dexter Butner and Ike Butner. He has eight grandchildren, Tessa Shelton and husband Robby, Ashleigh Moore, Jessica Denton and her husband BK, Brady Butner, Hailey Shinault, Matthew Allen, Devin Buckler, and Averi Buckler; and five great-grandchildren, Colton Shelton, Emma and Garrett Moore, and Hunter and Noah Shinault. Funeral services will be held on Friday, Jan 27, at 11 a.m. in the Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy with the Rev. Pete King and Rev. DC Collins. Burial will follow in the Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church Cemetery in Tobaccoville. The family will receive friends Friday, from 9:30 a.m. – 11 a.m. at the funeral home and at other times at Randall's home. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the Butner family.
