Edward J. Malesich, age 85, died on October 21, 2025 in Richmond, Va. He was born May 27, 1940 in Butte, Mont. He was predeceased by his father, Edward A. Malesich; mother, Barbara Ivanich Malesich; and brother, Robert Malesich (Janet). He is survived by sister, Joan Byrnes (Kevin); cousin, Joey Ivanich (Sandra); sister-in-law, Janet Malesich; and nephews, Chad Malesich (Lisa), Todd Malesich (Angela), Neil Malesich, Wade Malesich (Audrey).

Ed loved music from an early age, playing the accordion at age 7. He frequently competed in local talent contests with winning results. After graduating from Butte High School in 1958, he attended Denver University earning his bachelor's and master's degrees in concert accordion. Ed was one of the top 10 accordionists in the world. He taught music classes at Butte East Middle School for 33 years. He could frequently be heard playing with fellow musicians at many dances and celebrations around Butte.

In 1974, Ed joined the Butte Mile-Hi Lions club. Ed was on the Board of Directors and served on numerous committees during his 40+ years as a member. Outstanding honors he received are the "Lion of the Year" Award and the Melvin Jones Fellowship awarded by the Lions Club International. From 1995 to 1996, he served as District Governor. He served on both the Credit Committee for the Teachers' Credit Union and the Butte Community Theater Board for over 20 years. He provided the community with his stage experience and has volunteered countless hours of his time for service to the community. Ed was a devout Catholic attending St. Ann's Catholic Church where he was a long-time usher.

Those who new Ed will remember his unwavering commitment to always being a gentleman.

Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. on Thursday, December 4, 2025 at St. Ann's Catholic Church, 2100 Farragut Avenue in Butte. Visitation is at 10 a.m. and a reception will be held after mass.
