Harlan Keith was born Jan. 22, 1927, in Wessington Springs, S.D., the second of six children born to Ralph and Estella (Clemetson) Riesland. Bud was raised and educated between South Dakota and Butte. When Bud was 17 years old, he enlisted in the Navy and served his country during World War II. Following his discharge, he attended Mechanic Trade School in Fargo, N.D. He worked as a mechanic in Mitchell, S.D., at the Ford motors and Dakota motors.
On June 28, 1948, Bud married Darlene Caffee in Wessington Springs. In 1955, the Riesland family moved to Anaconda, where he worked for Clint Rice's garage, then at Bob Blotkamp's Ford garage. He retired in 1982 as a foreman at the Berkeley Pit after 22 years of service.
Bud came to Montana to be in the great outdoors, where he loved fishing, especially on Flint Creek, hunting big game, camping and ice skating - he played hockey in his younger years. His other pastime was woodworking. He played harmonica throughout the area. Bud loved his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a member of the Anaconda Catholic Community, working funeral luncheons many years. He was a past grand knight of the Knights of Columbus and life member of the Anaconda Veterans of Foreign Wars, serving as past commander.

I have many found memories of Uncle Bud. I really enjoyed all our camping adventures with him. He could really play the harmonica. Every night around the campfire he and Uncle Vernon played for us and sometimes we sang along.
Uncle Bud rescued my cars a few times and everytime I brought my car to him to find out what was wrong, he would say I think the problem is the loose nut behind the wheel. Oh yes, he loved to tease me at every opportunity. I could not have asked for a better uncle. He will be missed and I will hold on to my memories of him forever.
Love,
Debbie
