Joe Petroni Obituary

Joe Petroni, 82

April 7, 1939-February 19, 2022

Joe Petroni, 82, died peacefully in his home February 19, 2022. He was born April 7, 1939, in Butte Montana, to Joseph and Grace (Pinazza) Petroni. He was passionately known by many as a Mr. Fix it, his grandchildren always say if papa can't fix it no one can, he was a genius when it came to electronics, he was a straight shooter in life and with a gun.

Growing up in Walkerville, Joe graduated from the Sherman Grade school, and Butte High school class of 1957. Following his Graduation, he attended Chicago Coyne Electrical College and graduated with top honors. This honor allowed him the opportunity to go anywhere to work. His goal was to always get back to Butte. He skipped the graduation ceremony to get back to his home town of Butte just in time for opening day of hunting season, and rarely missed one. His love of the great outdoors hunting, fishing, and camping with his friends and family kept him deeply rooted under the Big Sky.

After coming back to Butte, he married Jodel Masolo, they celebrated 61 eventful years together, and had two children Jolene and Joe Jr. His grandchildren put a sparkle in his eyes and family meant the world to him. La Famiglia 'E Tutto... Family is everything!

Joe worked hard and played hard, he retired after 42 years from his business of Silver Bow TV. He was a loyal member of The Butte Trap Club and Montana State Trap Shooting Hall of Fame. He was inducted into the Butte Sports Hall Of Fame in 2017 where he was honored for winning numerous state championships, and proudly represented the state of Montana in the Grand American Nationals, along with many other accolades. His love of trap shooting led to lifelong friendships, where they loving referred to him as Mr. Wonderful.

In addition to his parents, he was proceeded in death by his sisters Ines (Petroni) spouse Matt Brozovich, Silvia (Petroni) spouse John Giop, and brother Lewis Petroni. He is survived by his wife Jodel, daughter Jolene (Petroni) Casey son-in-law Tim Casey, son Joe Petroni Jr. and daughter-in-law Jessica. Grandchildren Olivia, Joci, Lene, and Gia and several nieces and nephews.

The Petroni family would like to express their gratitude to Senior Solutions, Hospice nurses and aides along with our extended family and friends for their love, support and prayers during this time.

Visitation will be at 12:00 Friday, February 25, 2022 at St Ann's Parish. A service of remembrance will be held at 1:00 following visitation, interment at Holy Cross Cemetery. Those who wish to remember Joe in a special way may make gifts in his memory to Butte Sports Hall of Fame, 804 Zarelda or The Spirit of The Columbia Gardens Carousel, PO Box 4133 Butte MT 59701.

My condolences to Joe's family. He always gave a smile and a hello. My family rented a house on Daley St. from Joe's family in about 1948. I was given the pleasure of hunting antelope with Joe Jr. and my nephew Joe Jangula a few years ago.
