John Markovich Obituary

John Joseph Markovich

September 18, 1952 - May 10, 2025

John's life journey ended on May 10, 2025 at the Landing Assisted Living home in Roseburg, Oregon.

He was born September 18, 1952 to John Joseph Markovich and Mary Benich. The oldest of three children John attended St.

Ann's grade school, Boy's Central High School, graduating in 1970. John spent his younger years playing baseball with Butte Minors and Babe Ruth, he was a left handed first baseman. He was part of the 1969 Butte Central State Champion Class A football team which landed him a scholarship to play center for Carroll College Saints. He attended Carroll College, Montana Tech, and Eastern graduating with a bachelor's degree in Business Accounting. John worked in several locations before making his way to Oregon where he set down roots with his family. John married his wife Judy DuMond on June 20,1981 in Havre, Montana they have two children John Joseph III, and Jessica Marie. John loved his "Butte roots", he made yearly visits for St. Patrick's Day to catch up with his classmates which he considered family. It was his opportunity to regress back to his high school days wreaking havoc with his friends. They spent the week hitting the "Butte" places, Pork Chop Johns, Pasties, and of course Lydia's. He looked forward to his visits and was saddened when he was unable to visit any longer due to illness. He was an avid fisherman, a love he and Gary shared, they spent time together enjoying their sport, always trying to out do one another as brothers often do. He was a very proud season ticket holder for the Oregon Ducks he attended as many games as possible with his two children and later his grandchildren. Always sporting his latest greatest Ducks apparel after all it would fit into his Irish green. He became a grandpa to four beautiful grandchildren, they were the love of his life bragging about their many accomplishments to anyone who would listen. He loved Poviticia, his sister made many attempts to teach him how to make it, but in the end he enjoyed the finished product much more than the process.

John had a great sense of humor, his laugh was infectious especially when he thought he had one over on you. We will miss you always John, God Bless. John is survived by his wife Judy, son John (Tami) daughter Jessica (Brian) grandchildren Kellan and Austin Markovich, Shiloh and Maya Markovich-Fry. His sister Roxanne (Dave) Stillwagon nephew Moose (Angela) Stillwagon niece Tiffany (T.J.) Carter. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Gary Markovich, great nephew Carson Carter. Rest in Peace dear brother, Go Ducks! A memorial service will be held in July in Roseburg, Oregon.
