BUTTE - Katherine "Kathy" Patricia Thompson passed away July 17, 2024 at her home in Butte. She was born in Butte, MT on August 4, 1948, the daughter of Horace and Jean (Badten) Shea. She grew up in Walkerville attending St. Lawrence grade school and graduating from Butte Central High School.
She graduated from the Butte Beauty School and then marred Joseph Eldon Thompson in St. Lawrence Church. He preceded her in death.
Kathy worked for over 31 years with the Environmental Services at the Finlen Hotel from where she retired.
Kathy enjoyed making quilts, crocheting, camping, fishing and spending time with her family.
In addition to her husband, Joe, she was preceded in death by her parents; and step-father, George Anderson; son, Bobby Thompson; brother, Sonny Shea; and her dear friend, Luann Bennett.
She is survived by her children: Amanda Thompson and Tammy Welker; and her grandchildren: Haley, Callie, Lilly and Will Ahlborn, Hannah and Kyler Welker; great-grandchildren: Jaqueln and Ben. She is also survived by her sisters: Millie Williams, Nenna Anderson and Ann Shea.
In accordance with her wishes cremation has taken place. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, July 31, at 11:00am in St. Patrick's Church.

I remember going camping with Kathy at Delmo lake. Her friend had 4 wheeler, took her for a ride, when they got back he had wrecked her and the 4 wheeler. Camping trip over

Kathy, or Pat as we called her in the Walkerville neighborhood where we grew up, was a wonderful childhood friend. Even as a child, she was kind and considerate. I never heard he say a bad word about anyone.
