Robert E. "Bob" Decker died Friday, April 11, 2008, in a local hospital. He was born in Butte April 1, 1933, to Gerald and Molly (Merritt) Decker and attended local schools. Bob worked as a locomotive engineer in Butte before entering the Army where he served as a locomotive engineer in Korea. Following his honorable discharge, he returned to Butte and on Dec. 26, 1955, he married Mary Lou Stevens. She passed away on July 3, 1995. Bob owned and operated Bob's Auto and Truck Recycling and Dismantling for many years.
He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Dan and Peggy Decker, Ed and Kathy Decker and Scott and Shari Decker, all of Butte; grandchildren, Jennifer and Justin Mason, Dewey Decker, Ian Decker, Meaghan Decker and Darby Decker. Also surviving is his sister and brother-in-law, Gerene and John Alexander of Yakima, Wash.
Cremation has taken place in Butte. Memorial services will be conducted Tuesday morning at 10 in Wayrynen-Richards Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert Hall officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Butte Convalescent Center.
