Sheila Uggetti Obituary

Sheila Anne Uggetti

January 10, 1949 - September 15, 2024

Sheila Rogers Uggetti was born on January 10th, 1949 in Douglas, Arizona and left this earthly plane on September 15, 2024. She went to Loretto Elementary and graduated from Douglas High in 1967. She moved to Tempe to attend Arizona State University and matriculated with a degree in Special Education. She started her educational career in Gilbert Public Schools as a junior high special education teacher, she taught at Patterson Elementary, Houston Elementary and was an interim HR Director before becoming the principal at Gilbert Elementary, where she stayed for over 20 years. A wonderful caretaker, she had the opportunity to return to Douglas to be the Superintendent of Schools there and take care of her Aunt Teresa for seven years. Returning home to Gilbert, she served on the School Board in several capacities for GPS. In 2018, Sheila married David Uggetti. Sheila and Dave were both retired educators, loved sports and to travel. They spent their summers in Butte, Montana and winters in Gilbert, Arizona. The two had season tickets to a variety of Arizona sports including the Diamondback in which they attended game four of the 2023 World Series in Phoenix.

Sheila is survived by her husband Dave, who brought her so much joy (and probably scared him joining our big family), Kerri (daughter), Patrick (son), Cameron (grandson), Judy (sister) and so many more family and friends that are too numerous to mention. She is preceded in death by her mother, Margaret, Aunt Teresa, Uncle Johnny and many other loved family and friends.

Services will be held on Friday, September 27th at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Basilica in Phoenix, AZ. Rosary will start at 9:30. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Gilbert Educational Foundation, Endometrial Cancer Foundation or World Literacy Foundation.
