Wayne Steven Rodrigues, Sr.
April 3, 1935 - June 19, 2022
RED BLUFF, CA - Wayne Steven Rodrigues, Sr., 87, of Red Bluff, CA, passed away on Sunday morning, June 19, 2022. Wayne loved his family, was compassionate, giving, accepting, and quick-witted with a wonderful sense of humor. He will be deeply missed.
Wayne was born in Butte, Montana on April 3, 1935, to Estevan and Sarah Rodrigues.
He received his education in Butte, Montana and enlisted into the Navy November 13, 1952, as a Sonar Technician. He served in the Navy during the Korean War, and received honorable metals: National Defense Service Metal, China Service Metal, United Nations Service Metal, Korean Service Metal. Upon his honorable discharge from the Navy, Wayne joined the Federal Aviation Administration as an Air Traffic Controller and moved up in the ranks to become a Flight Facilities Supervisor. His Federal Aviation career spanned 36 years.
Wayne married Beverly J. LaPier on November 13, 1956. They had seven children of which he is survived by Michael (Donna) Rodrigues, Arlene Kinney, Lena (Todd) Reiners, Anna (Jack) Ryan, Vernon John (Letha) Rodrigues, Sherry Lynn Rodrigues, Wayne Jr. (Andrea) Rodrigues. Also survived by 18 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and Beverly's sister Frances Rubusch.
Wayne was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly J. Rodrigues; grandson Simon Rodrigues; brothers Earl Southwell, Leroy, Delbert, Elmer, Vincent; Beverly's sisters Sandy Davis, Betty Rodrigues; Beverly's brother Joe LaPier.Wayne married his second wife Margaret Neff (Rodrigues) on February 15, 2020, she has two daughters, Angie Canny, and Kim Neff.
A Celebration of Life Mass will be held at St. Patrick's Catholic Church on August 2, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. The church will be open at 10:00 a.m. for all who would like to pay their respects.
An Inurnment Service will follow at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery at 12:30 p.m. A Veteran Administration Honor Guard will present Military Funeral Honors.
