Barbara Ann Sabbath

MUSCATINE, IA – Barbara Ann Sabbath, 90, passed away on Friday, February 21, 2025, at Lutheran Living.
Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m., until 10:30 a.m., on Friday, March 7, 2025, at Zion Lutheran Church. The Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran Church of Muscatine, Muscatine Community Foundation, Lutheran Living, or favorite charity in Barbara's name.
Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Friday, March 7, 2025, at the church. Pastor Willie Rosin and Pastor Erica Cunningham will officiate. A private burial will take place in Greenwood Cemetery. Online condolences:

Barbara was born on December 13, 1934, in Muscatine, Iowa, to Ione Hoopes Boynton and Eugene W. Boynton. She married Charles J. Sabbath on June 6, 1953. He preceded her in death in 2000.
Her community activities included PEO-FC, past board member of Community Foundation of Greater Muscatine, past board member of Lutheran Living, member of Colonial Dames of America, and was a past board member of Northern Filter Media. She was also President of Sabbath Inc, member of the Questers Study Group, and 50-year member of Geneva Country Club. Barbara was awarded the Governor Granted Literacy Award for her work in teaching the Laubach Volunteer Literacy Program for many years. Barbara was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church and was steadfast in her faith as she loved God, trusted him through Jesus Christ.
She was a graduate of Muscatine High School and attended Augustana College. She was elected by her high school class of 1952 as a class officer. She was a loving wife and the proud mother of two daughters, a grandmother of six grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. She lived for family trips, reunions, and celebrations. She and Chuck loved spending time with and entertaining their friends and family. She always loved to accompany Chuck to his cattle shows and sales around the country where they made friends and family. Charles music abilities warmed her heart and soul. He was known for his beautiful pure tenor voice.
Survivors include her two daughters, Sara Marie Sabbath Reusswig (David) of Iowa and Beth Ann Sabbath (Tim Quinn) of Virginia; grandchildren: Matthew Sabbath Reusswig (Amber D. Welch) of Virginia, Phil Reusswig (Alice Ho) of California, Emily Reusswig (Patrick C. Whalen) of Illinois, Joseph Quinn of Virginia, Ione Marie Quinn of Virginia, Charles W. Quinn of Virginia; great-grandchildren, Henry Reusswig-Welch and Lily Reusswig; sister, Eugenia Nickerson of Iowa; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles; her parents; sister, Elizabeth 'Betsy' Noble; brother-in-law, John Sabbath; and sister-in-law, Elizabeth Miller.
