Gordon Lowell Arnold

August 5, 1943 - September 26, 2023

Gordon Lowell Arnold, age 80, of Wilton, IA, passed away Tuesday, September 26, 2023, at University of Iowa Hospital. A visitation will be held from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m., Monday, October 2, 2023 at Zion Lutheran Church, Wilton. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, October 3, 2023 at the church. Burial will take place in Oakdale Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Wilton American Legion or to Zion Lutheran Church Choir Fund. Online condolences may be left at www.bentleyfuneralhome.com.

Gordon was born in Iowa City, Iowa on August 5, 1943, the son of Delbert and Edith (Bjork) Arnold. He graduated from West Liberty High School with the Class of 1961. Gordon proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. He married Kathryn Asmus in 1969. She passed away on September 24, 2007. Gordon later married Anita Ploen on April 17, 2009.

Gordon was the shipping supervisor for JM Eagle Manufacturing Company, retiring in 2009. In his retirement, Gordon loved tending to his yard and helping his friends during harvest. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, where he was active in the choir. Gordon was also a member of the Wilton American Legion and the Wilton Hi-Lighters. Most of all, Gordon loved spending time with his family and friends.

Gordon will be dearly missed by his wife, Anita; six children: Julie (Corey) Jacobs of St. Mary's, GA, Janine Arnold of Wilton, Jason Arnold of Austin, TX, Darci (Donnie) Humphrey of Naples, Italy, Dorian (Seth) Maag of Durant, IA and Dina (Scott) Mitchell of Woodbine, IA; eight grandchildren: Brandon, Drew, Ellie, Lauren, Drake, Robbie, Cecelia, and Charlie; one great-grandchild, Florence; and one sister, Karen (Glen) Puffet.

Gordon was preceded in death by his first wife, Kathryn; and one brother, Ralph Arnold.

I've had Anita & Gordan in my prayer's since the 1st time I heard he had cancer, Gordan was a card, always made you laugh, so glad he sung in the choir, a friend I'll never forget. My heart goes out to Anita & all the family!!
