Muscatine, Iowa -
Jamie Renee Franklin, 47, of Muscatine, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by family on Tuesday, July 15, 2025.
Visitation will be held Saturday, July 19, 2025, from 9:30 to 11:00 A.M. at the Henderson-Barker Funeral Home in West Branch. A celebration of life service will follow at 11:00 A.M.
Jamie was born February 22, 1978, in Iowa City, the daughter of Douglas and Marilyn (Brade) Broxey. She graduated from Mid-Prairie High School in 1996 and later earned her degree in education from the University of Northern Iowa. Jamie dedicated her career to teaching, serving in several school systems, most recently as an elementary special education teacher with the Muscatine Community School District.
Beyond the classroom, Jamie enjoyed reading, bowling with the "Under Dogs," supporting her school's fine arts department as a booster, and was a member of the M.E.A. education group.
She is survived by her children, Jadyn Franklin, Dekota Franklin, and Elizabeth Franklin, all of Muscatine; her parents, Douglas and Marilyn Broxey of West Branch; three stepchildren, Brandon (Talia) Franklin, Michaela (Rilley) Hight, and Koby Franklin; her paternal grandmother, Mary Broxey; as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Jamie's family would like to extend their gratitude to UnityPoint Hospice for their compassionate care. In her final act of generosity, Jamie was a cornea donor, giving the gift of sight to two individuals.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Jamie Franklin Memorial Fund.
