ILLINOIS CITY-Marian McGreer, 89, of Illinois City, passed away on Friday, December 3, 2021, at Lutheran Living Senior Campus.
A memorial service will be at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 8, 2021, at the Illinois City United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Drury-Reynolds Cemetery. The Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to the Illinois City United Methodist Church. Online condolences may be made at www.wittichfuneralhome.com.
Marian was born on September 24, 1932, the daughter of Bror Oscar and Emily Anderson Linde. She married George E. McGreer on July 5, 1953, at the Messiah Lutheran Church in Aledo, Illinois.
Marian was a member of the Illinois City United Methodist Church where she was the treasurer for many years. She was a member in the Women's Service Guild and helped with many church dinners. She was active with helping on the family farm. Marian enjoyed bowling and was on a bowling league. Marian loved her family very much. The grandchildren always looked forward to going to Grandma's house.
Marian is survived by her three sons, Bret (Paulette) McGreer of Illinois City, Illinois, Brian (Tammy) McGreer of Illinois City, Illinois, and Barry (Donna) McGreer of Schaumburg, Illinois; nine grandchildren, Lindsey (Luke) Henke, Tricia (Zach) Sours, Afton (Benjamin) Blakley, Kelsey (Nick) Erickson, Melissa (Ryan) Robinson, Samantha (Hunter) Winstead, Brianna McGreer, Connor McGreer, and Joscelyn McGreer; 10 great grandchildren, Asher, Cole, Chase, Claire, Chandler, Sofia, Katarina, Grant, Declan, and Finnegan; and one great great grandchild, Harper Sours.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George; and a great grandchild, Alexis Bassett.
