My sympathies to Murry's family and close friends. I have good memories of Murry, who as a customer was patient and a genuine nice guy. He was my best customer when selling new Freightliners and later in my new business of remarketing trucks. I miss him and his decent nice guy approach to working with me who at the time still had much to learn. I learned a good deal from him. Thank you Murry. Bless your soul and all of your loved ones. Scott.

I am very saddened for your family's loss. I remember a few years ago I was in Iowa for other business and reached out to Murry for dinner. He took time from his family and busy schedule to take me to a local Italian place and shared with me the story of how he started Florilli. It was a great conversation, but what struck me was how genuine and caring of a man he was. He will truly be missed.

I would like to say I am very sorry to hear that Murry passed away. I was his first grade teacher. It was my first year of teaching. I loved that class and teaching in Durant. Just a story to share....one day I wasnt feeling well at all. Murry noticed and he marched up in front of the classroom and said, Miss Detlefsen is not feeling well today...so we have to be extra good. ....and then he sat down. He was adorable! I did attend a get together in Durant years later and I did ask about Murry and people filled me in on what he was doing. Again, so sorry for your loss.

Our deepest sympathies to Murry's family and friends. Murry will be missed by so many people. He is the type of person you won't forget. It's hard to believe he is gone. My wife and I met Murry 20 years ago when I signed on at Florilli Transportation as a driver. He was a great boss. His door was always open to his drivers and he always had a kind word whenever we dropped in at the terminal. Because of him and the great people who worked at Florilli, I stayed and became the Senior Driver. I am still working as a Florilli driver at Don Hummer Trucking. R. I. P. Murry. Thank you for the great career opportunity you gave me. Keep on truckin.

Murry, you will be greatly missed. You have been my friend for nearly 50 years. From your many friends from Cornell, your Delt brothers, our association with my time at Peterbilt, etc. We talked last when I was recovering from my stage 4 cancer and you just learned of your discouraging prospects. Life friends are forever missed. You will be missed. I prayed for you and I seldom due. My sadness is beyond words. I love you brother!

To Murry's Family -- My deepest sympathy in your loss. I first met Murry as a little kindergarten kid riding the school bus with the Fitzer kids. Then when I was in high school, I was a babysitter for Erik and Tommy. It was a great farming neighborhood to grow up in. Hoping wonderful memories will help to replace your sorrow.

So it was actually 10 years ago this week, my wife and I met Murry and Julie while we were in Wisconsin for a Jimmy Buffett show. We share a couple of mutual friends. That's where the introduction came from. Needless to say, we had an absolutely wonderful time. It didn't take long for us to figure Murry out. He is one of the most thoughtful, kind, and generous persons I have ever met. We had many laughs that weekend. His fine tuned sense of humor played its part well. It is a weekend my wife and I will never forget. Since that trip, we had only seen him 2 or 3 other times. Each time was special in its own way. I wish there could have been more of those times. We are not so fortunate though. I am not the type to leave messages like this. It is very much out of the ordinary for me. Murry impacted us and I am certain the world is a better place because of him. He will be missed by many.

Your are in peace now my friend!

Kyle and Heather Johnson. Parrot Heads for life!!!

I first met the Fitzer family in 1968 when Mike and I were in the National Guard together. Shortly after that I was able to work with them on the farms helping out with harvest each fall. That was something I looked forward to each fall as we developed a close relationship spending long hours together during the harvest. I always enjoyed his perspective on life when we had chats in the cab of a tractor. Murray and Mike could always make me laugh. He was always optimistic even in the face of the many challenges in the business world, and seemed to remain positive with a can do attitude. He will be deeply missed by us all.

Murry was a very 'dear' friend of mine. We 1st met at Cornell College and our friendship just continued with time itself. I would return to various 'Homecomings' over the years and we would always get together or get in touch. One time, I came to Durant unannounced and just knocked on his front door...it turns out Murry was out in the fields plowing, so I just walked out, waved him down & got in the tractor cab with him and had the best of times, telling stories & laughing...all of time went away....We were back ! He told me that he loved all the Red tailed Hawks that would come down to catch the field mice in the tractor's 'wake'. In my heart, he will always soar like a Hawk ! God Speed! Murry...God Speed !
