MUSCATINE-Paul Plett, 87, of Muscatine, passed away on Sunday, March 19, 2023 at Lutheran Living. Memorial services will be held on 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 22, 2023 at the Snyder & Hollenbaugh Funeral and Cremation Service of Muscatine. Burial with Military Honors will follow the services at Oak Grove Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the family in memory of Paul. Online condolences may be left at www.sandhfuneralservice.com.
Paul Vernon Plett was born on December 9, 1935 in Davenport, Iowa, the son of Ellery Charles and Hazel (Washburn) Plett. Paul was a graduate of Muscatine High School. He proudly served his country in the United States Army and the Navy Reserves. On June 25, 1958, Paul was united in marriage to JoAnn Fern Goddard in Iowa City. Paul was a self-employed mechanic, owning Plett 66 and Plett Muffler. He was a Little League Coach and along with his wife, JoAnn they had Cranston Creations. Paul enjoyed going for car rides, trips to Branson, bargain hunting, fishing, camping and watching Iowa Hawkeyes basketball.
Paul will be missed by his children, Vickie (Mike) Craig of Metamora, IL, Wesley (Sharon) Plett of Cranston and Darwin (Vickie) Plett of Muscatine; 14 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, JoAnn on March 4, 2023; stepdaughter, Desiree Belzer and her husband, Jim; stepson, Rodney Ricklefs and siblings, Merle, Lois and Alvin.
