Ruth Rasmussen Obituary
October 14, 1953 - February 24, 2025
Ruth Ann Rasmussen, age 71, of rural Caulfield, Mo., passed away February 24, 2025, in Mountain Home, Ark. She passed peacefully with her family by her side.
Ruth was born October 14, 1953, in Des Moines, Iowa, the daughter of Leo Rasmussen and Grace Yvonne Philo Rasmussen. They preceded her in death.
Ruth enjoyed boating for many years, riding and showing horses, and spending time with her family. She worked as an LPN for 12 years before going to HON companies for 25 years, then renewed her nursing license and retired after providing care to many people. Ruth is remembered as being a tough, hard working woman who instilled an incredible work ethic in her kids. Over the last several years, Ruth took many trail rides with her sisters and volunteered her time at the Amvets, Post 98 of West Plains, Mo., where she was inducted as an Honorary Ladies Auxillary member.
Ruth is survived by her three children; Shawn (Kelly) Bender, Jasen Bender and Rachelle (Scott) McGowan all of Iowa. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and two great-granddaughters, Ennovy and Mariana; three sisters and many nieces and nephews, as well as long time companion, Mark Adkerson of Pottersville, Mo.; many friends and other relatives.
Celebration of Life will be held Saturday April 26, 2025, at the American Legion Post 27 at 110 South Houser St., Muscatine, Iowa from 1 to 7 p.m. This will be an open house, donations and plants can be delivered day of celebration. Please come share stories and have a Gin and Tonic in Ruth's memory.

I meet Ruth in Jr. High School at North Polk Jr-Sr High School. Man, that's been a long time ago. I remember her as a really good, nice girl. She was one of the taller kids as I remember also. Friendly and usually had a smile on her face. Her family moved to southern Iowa as I remember. As we say from the class of 72 as she would have been one of us, another Comet streaking across the sky way too soon. Please accept my condolences.

I met Ruth thru mutual friends in Willow Springs,Mo as a fellow nurse we always had good conversation,I was always glad to catch up with her,at many fish fry´s and other social gathering, I enjoyed her great sense of humor, her can do gumption,tempered with great gentleness.She was a true rarity,she had a beautiful soul,please accept my condolences.

Much love to family and friends of Ruth. I was the Nursing supervisor at Independent-In-Home Services for several years. We had some crazy fun times and laughed and sometimes cried over our clients. I remember one time when Ruthie was orientating to do her clients we made a wrong turn on a country road and was about 35 miles from where we needed to be. That was a long day, but we managed to make it back to West Plains. We laughed so much about that. Ruthie was a great nurse! She was loved and will be very missed!!
