Carla Marie Van Duisen

We have truly lost a bright light. Our beloved Carla Marie Van Duisen passed away on July 24th,2025 of a sudden heart attack. Carla was born on Oct 24th 1968 to Sandra and Louis Van Duisen in Bellingham WA. Carla attended Bellingham High School and then went on to procure several degrees in Early childhood education, Accounting, and Business. Carla spent many years as a housekeeper and a caregiver, but her passions lay in cooking. She co-owned the Weblocker restaurant on the waterfront at Bellingham Harbor with her mother, Sandra, for a number of years. Additionally, she owned a small business called Carla's Baked Goods. Carla was a compassionate and generous person who will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Even when facing a myriad of her own health issues, Carla found the time and energy to help out not only her friends and family, but members of her community experiencing homelessness, providing them food, clothing, and other essentials. Her commitment to kindness and compassion were truly inspiring. Carla absolutely loved to feed the squirrels at Cornwall Park, especially with her grandson Vian, who was the light of her life. Carla is preceded in death by both her parents, Sandra and Louis Van Duisen. Carla is survived by her son and full-time caregiver Britton Van Duisen; her grandson Vian Louis Van Duisen; her Brothers, Virgil and David Van Duisen; and many other relatives and friends who will feel her absence. Celebration of Life service will take place at a later date.
