Hendrika Maria De Mooy

Hendrika Maria De Mooy/nee Dekker went to be with her Lord and Savior on September 9, 2025 at the age of 101 years at the home of Jack and Adria De Mooy. She was married to Dirk De Mooy on January 20, 1953, and they soon immigrated to Bayshore Long Island, New York, lived in Paterson, New Jersey, Grand Rapids, Michigan, back to Holland for a year, and then she settled in Lynden, Washington in 1969. Hendrika was always ready to serve coffee and cookies in her house at Cedar Drive. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed oil painting. Mom has experienced sadness, but has also brought much joy into the lives of many. She was a great example and modeled a Godly life to our families and all she came into contact with. Her biggest highlight was Sunday, where she could go to church and worship and sing praise to God. Hendrika was preceded in death by her husband Dirk De Mooy in 1987 and a dearly loved young son, Richard, in 1964. She is survived by her son Jack (Adria) De Mooy, daughter Rita (John) Van Laar, and daughter Linda (Thomas) Luis. She will be greatly missed by 11 grandchildren Rick (Janice) De Mooy, Andrew (Karen) De Mooy, Dirk (Sandy) De Mooy, Bethany (Ryan) Van Delft, Jesse (Julina) De Mooy, Richard (Lisa) Van Laar, Rueben (Roseanne) Van Laar, Bonnie (Ali) Eilander, Angela (Jordan) Fennema, Jolene (Ben) Faber, and Tiffany Luis, and 44 great-grandchildren. Also survived by her sister-in-law Sjaan Pearsum in Holland, sister-in-law Mach De Mooy in South Africa, brother and sister-in-law Jan and Thera De Mooy in Holland, nephew Henny and Marga Dekker in Amsterdam. Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 14 from 4-7pm at Gillies Funeral Home. Family and friends are invited to attend the funeral services on Monday, September 15th at the American Reformed Church at 3:30pm, followed by a burial at Monumenta Cemetery, and a reception at Cornerstone Christian School. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Gillies Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
