Ignacio Ortiz Obituary

Ignacio "Nacho" Ortiz, 78, entered into rest on September 12, 2025, in Bellingham, WA. Nacho was born in Ciudad Acuña, Coahuila, Mexico on February 1, 1947, but resided in Del Rio, Texas for the majority of his life. He was a dedicated Farm Worker most of his life where he migrated for several decades alongside his wife and children from the state of Texas to the state of Washington, season after season. Although Texas was his permanent home, Washington will always be a big part of his life journey. Nacho was best known for his strong character, hard work ethic, and love he showed the people around him. Nacho was a family man, a man of few words but had the biggest heart and was always there for his family and friends. He is preceded in death by parents; Concepcion and Gregoria Ortiz, his son; Angel Ortiz, Siblings; Concepcion, Juan, Trinidad, Minerva, Manuel, Josefina, and Guillermo, as well as many cherished extended family members. He is survived by his wife; Sylvia Ortiz, his children Robert, Reynaldo (Chayo), Sylvia (Jose), Anilou (Pedro), Juan (Nereyda), Sonia (Maynor), Orlando, Concepcion (Chila), Maribel (Carlos), Jesus (Mariska), and Christina (Javier), and siblings; Concha, Maria, Elodia, and Lucia. Also survived and loved dearly by 49 grandchildren, 48 great grandchildren, and many extended family members. Please join us for a memorial service at Gillies Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 17th from 2-5pm for his celebration of life. Additional viewing and burial services will take place in Del Rio, Texas next week. Nacho nació en Ciudad Acuña, Coahuila, México, el 1 de febrero de 1947, pero vivió en Del Río, Texas la mayor parte de su vida.Temporada tras temporada viajó por varias décadas junto con su esposa e hijos del estado de Texas al estado de Washington, donde se dedicó a trabajar en campo durante gran parte de su vida. Y aunque Texas fue su hogar permanente, Washington siempre será una parte importante de su vida. Nacho era conocido por su carácter fuerte, su ética de trabajo y el amor que demostraba a quienes lo rodeaban. Nacho era un hombre de familia, de pocas palabras, pero con un gran corazón y siempre estaba ahí para su familia y amistades. Ahora descansa en paz a lado de sus padres; Concepción y Gregoria Ortiz, su hijo; Ángel Ortiz; sus hermanos; Concepción, Juan, Trinidad, Minerva, Manuel, Josefina y Guillermo, así como muchos otros seres queridos. Le sobreviven su esposa; Sylvia Ortiz, sus hijos; Robert, Reynaldo (Chayo), Sylvia (José), Anilou (Pedro), Juan (Nereyda), Sonia (Maynor), Orlando, Concepción (Chila), Maribel (Carlos), Jesús (Mariska) y Christina (Javier); y sus hermanas, Concha, María, Elodia y Lucía. También le sobreviven y lo aman profundamente sus 49 nietos, 48 bisnietos y familiares. Acompáñenos al primer velorio en la Funeraria Gillies en Lynden, el miércoles 17 de septiembre de 2-5pm para ser parte de su celebración de vida. El segundo velorio y el entierro se llevarán a cabo en Del Río, Texas, la próxima semana.
