Jaleen Bacon Obituary
It is with profound sadness that the family of Jaleen Kay Bacon announces her unexpected passing on September 17, 2025, at the age of 65, at her home. Born in Bellingham, Washington, and raised on a small farm near Lynden, Jaleen lived a life marked by love, integrity, and a deep connection to family and community.
Jaleen was a devoted wife, loving mother, doting grandmother, and cherished sister. She is survived by her beloved husband of 37 years, Steve Bacon; her children, Tyler (Sandra) and Kelsey (Curtis); and her six treasured grandchildren, Haylee, Kayla, Ryder, Aubrey, Ashton, and Hazel. She also leaves behind her siblings Janet, Joe (Cheryl), and Julie, as well as her nephews Tim, David, Garrett, and Calvin. Jaleen was predeceased by her parents, Joe and Jean Moser, and her sister Joyce.
Growing up in rural Washington, Jaleen's early years were shaped by a love of horses and the outdoors. She was an accomplished athlete during her time at Meridian High School, where she excelled in multiple sports, particularly baseball, and formed lifelong friendships.
Jaleen dedicated 43 years to the banking industry, retiring as the Loan Servicing Manager of North Coast Credit Union. She was highly respected by her colleagues and known for her mentorship, integrity, and unwavering work ethic. Beyond her career, Jaleen was an active member of the Ferndale Kiwanis Club, contributing generously to her community and forging lasting friendships.
Jaleen married Eugene Leibrant in 1979, and Tyler was born in 1985.
Her marriage to Steve Bacon in 1988 marked a new chapter filled with love and shared dreams. Together, they designed and built their home on 14 acres of wooded land, where Jaleen delighted in the natural beauty and wildlife around her. Her ability to identify birds and animals by their calls was just one example of her deep appreciation for nature. Together they welcomed Kelsey, born in 1990.
As a mother and grandmother, Jaleen's love knew no bounds. She was a steady, comforting guiding presence in Tyler and Kelsey's lives through four decades and the heart of her family. Whether baking treats, attending sports games, or sharing simple moments, she was the best Nana anyone could ask for and wouldn't miss an occasion that would bring them together. Her culinary skills were legendary, known for everything from gourmet meals to huge batches of cookies that never failed to impress. No one can recall a time when her meals or treats failed to delight everyone's taste buds.
Jaleen's zest for life extended to her love of road trips, with a memorable road trip in 2003 when her and Steve drove their new truck across the country from Indiana to Washington, visiting iconic landmarks like Mt. Rushmore and many other historic locations along the way.
Jaleen lived her life with unwavering honesty and integrity; values deeply rooted in her many years in the banking industry. She was loved by all who knew her, not only for her positive energy and uplifting attitude but also for her remarkable patience and willingness to lend an ear to anyone in need. Above all, Jaleen's greatest joy came from her grandchildren; she cherished every moment spent with them, nurturing their lives with love, guidance, and warmth.
Despite facing physical challenges in recent months, Jaleen's spirit remained unbroken, always optimistically planning for the future. Her kindness, patience, and infectious laugh leaves an unmistakable mark on everyone who knew her.
Jaleen Kay Bacon will be forever missed, forever loved, and forever remembered.
A Celebration of Life will be held in her honor at Meridian High School on November 8, 2025, from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Family, friends, and all whose lives were touched by Jaleen are invited to join in remembering and celebrating her remarkable life.
