James Taylor Obituary

James Taylor The son of Jemima (Ross)Taylor and George "Geo" Malcom Taylor was born April 12, 1947, in Edinburgh Scotland. James started his career as an apprenticeship baker at Mackie and Sons LTD in Edinburgh from April 23, 1962, to August 24 th, 1968, until the firm was acquired by DS Crawford LTD. James transferred to the firm's bakery on August 24, 1968. He was employed in the capacity of baker and confectioner from April 4 th, 1962- October 1 st, 1971, already of Crawford and Edinburgh Food Manufacturers and Distributors throughout Scotland and the North of England. James attended the City & Guilds of London Institute and Napier Technical College, Edinburgh in the Second Class of the year 1965. Later, James moved to the United States where he was blessed with two wonderful children, Cara (Kory) Farmer and Lesley (Randy) Rosten in California. The family moved to Bellingham WA where life progressed. James soon met Antonette (Stogin) Taylor at Haggen's Top Foods, and they later became husband and wife on February 16, 2002, joining as one family. James cherished his wife and children and loved sharing his love for life. The family enjoyed golf, soccer, dominoes, and other activities. The family learned skills which helped them succeed in life. James provided for his family working hard at his job with Haggen's Top Foods from 1979-1996 as a Bakery Merchandiser. He did openings in the bakery department and as luck would have it, his wife Antonette Taylor was by his side as a head cake decorator. James made the news with a full page write up in The Bellingham Herald on October 24, 1976. He even shared his recipe, "James Taylor Yellow Cake" and the "Buttercream Icing". In July 1982, James Taylor was proud to become a US Citizen and received his Certificate of Naturalization. James took a break from Haggen's between 1997-1998 and worked for Lucks, selling bakery ovens and merchandise. He held a few positions as Director of Supermarket Sales 1997, Ovation Specialist 1998, and Director of Food Services 1998. James longed to be home and found his way back to Haggen's for a few years before retiring. We lost someone that meant a great deal to ourselves and others. James made an impact on his jobs, with his family and friends. His talent and dedication to detail will always be remembered. The memories of his life and his specialty in getting his point across will always put a smile on our faces. James, in his last years, struggled with his health. He faced those struggles head on until he could not anymore. James left this world the way he wanted to. James is preceded in death by both parents, George Malcom Taylor and Jemima Taylor, his sisters, Margaret Pender, Irene Taylor, brothers Bill Taylor, Andrew Taylor, John "Jock" Taylor, Bobby Taylor, and George "Dud" Taylor. Parents-in-law: Leonard Stogin and Petronella Stogin, and Brothers-in-law LeRoy Richards and Adrian Stogin. James is survived by his wife Antonette (Tonie) Taylor, daughter Cara (Kody) Farmer, Lesley (Randy) Rosten, sisters-in-law Mary Richards, and Lemoyne Stogin, Christine (Carl) Dale, Brothers-in-law Dennis Stogin and Charles Stogin.
