Joan Christabel Rayborn

Joan Rayborn was 85 years old when she passed away in Bellingham, Washington on October 23rd, 2025. Joan was born on March 19th, 1940, in a now non-existent town of Natal, British Columbia, Canada to Francis and Amy McVeigh (Davidson). Joan graduated high school in 1958. She came to Bellingham to attend business school and met her husband, Larry Rayborn. Later on, Joan attended Western Washington University (WWU) in Bellingham, where she graduated with a Bachelor's in 1989. Joan worked at Park Bowl and 20th Century bowling for many years. With a passion for bowling, Joan became the Secretary for the Whatcom Bowling Association. She was a proud member of the Junior Women's General Federation in the early 1970s where they started the first Girls Club in Bellingham. Not only did she love bowling, but she also loved watching all sports. She had many passions and interests in life. She enjoyed spending time with her 4 grand and 6 great grandchildren, shopping, crossword puzzles, reading spy novels, and eating sweets! Joan is survived by her daughters, Sherry Zeilstra (Russ) of Ocean Park, Washington, Laura Bridges (Mike) of Moab, Utah, and Amy Mullen (Jeff) of Bellingham, Washington. Her grandchildren, Katharine Zeilstra of Custer, Washington, Kyle Zeilstra of Ferndale, Washington, Joshua Mullen of Bellingham, and Jacob Mullen of Bellingham, and 6 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents Frank and Amy McVeigh, brothers Jimmy McVeigh and Bobby McVeigh, her nephews Craig McVeigh and Tom McVeigh.
