Maria Bosman

Maria "Ria" Bosman was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on May 30, 2025, at age 84, after her courageous struggle with Parkinson's disease. Ria was born on January 25, 1941, in Lynden, Washington, to Lewis and Bertha (Van Loo) Hoksbergen. She grew up in Lynden and graduated from Lynden Christian School in 1959. She also attended the Reformed Bible Institute in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Ria married Ron Bosman on March 29, 1963. Together they raised and taught their three children valuable life lessons and created many special memories, which included various family vacations. Throughout her life, Ria enjoyed a special time in daily Bible readings, and her personal relationship with her Heavenly Father. She also loved knitting, crocheting, sewing, along with a love for Oreo Blizzards, and York Peppermint Patties. Ria enjoyed her time and many interactions with students during her 25-year career as a paraeducator at the Lynden School District. After her retirement, Ria loved spending quality time with family at the beach house. She cherished and adored her three grandsons, which included attending sporting events and watching them grow up. She is survived by her husband of 62 wonderful years, Ron Bosman, her children, Dennis (Mikki) Bosman, Doug (Laura Lee) Bosman, Debbi Bosman, and grandsons, Bryce Bosman, Cade Schaetzl, and Trevin Bosman; family members Patti Hoksbergen, Harry and Bertha Stuurmans, Betty Hoksbergen, Dave DeHaan, Louie and Jeanne Hoksbergen, Larry and Kathy VanderLeest, George and Candy Hoksbergen; as well as Wes and Carolyn Weg, Alice Bosman, Bill and Marilyn Bosman, Jack and Jane Bosman, Jerry and Joan Bush; and many nieces and nephews. Ria was preceded in death by her parents, Lewis and Bertha Hoksbergen, Uncle George Hoksbergen, siblings Tena Heeringa, Curly Hoksbergen, John Hoksbergen, Alyce DeHaan, and Catherine Hoksbergen; and brothers-in-law, Larry Bosman and Gerald Bosman. A graveside service will be held on Friday, June 6, 2025, at 10:00 am, at the Greenwood Cemetery, with a reception to follow.
