Nancy McKinzie Obituary

After a short journey with brain cancer, Nancy Lee McKinzie passed away peacefully on July 31st, 2025, at the age of 83. She was born on June 23rd, 1943, in Moline, Illinois to parents Vernon and Dorothy (Barr) Miller. Nancy grew up with her brother Gary in a loving Christian home. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life and in the laughter of those she loved, a trait which she maintained throughout her life. Nancy was a loving mother to her children, Teri Lynn and James, and grandmother to Jason Grafton. She was beloved by many friends and had a strong connection to many members of her church and social circle. Nancy loved playing card games, reading mystery novels, traveling (including a cruise to Alaska, an experience which she greatly cherished), puzzles, dining out with friends and family, and spending time with those she loved. She also had a passion for arts and crafts, her faith, and helping others, which manifested in a leadership role in the Handmade Prayers group at her church, Northwest Baptist, a charitable group that donates their time and resources to handcraft knit caps, scarves, shawls and other homemade items for those in need. Nancy requested no public funeral service so her family and loved ones will honor her privately. She will be greatly missed by family and friends, but with comfort that we will see her again. She is survived by her grandson, Jason Grafton, her sister, Judy Moir, and her nieces, Heather Masters and Holly Moir. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Gillies Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
