DR. ALAN GARY JACOBOWITZ
AGE: 71 WASHINGTON, NJ
Dr. Alan Gary Jacobowitz died on March 19, 2009, surrounded by the overwhelming love of his four daughters and their husbands. He was born in Newark, NJ on November 1, 1937 to George and Norma Jacobowitz. Alan was formerly a long-time resident of Clinton, NJ, and most recently resided in Washington, NJ with his daughter Beth Ann Feaster and her husband Rick. He was last employed by the Watchung Board of Education as a School Psychologist. In addition, he also held positions in the Plainfield and Manville School Districts as Head of Special Services and an adjunct professor at Kean College in Union, NJ. Alan was a 1955 graduate of Weequahic High School in Newark, NJ. He also received his Bachelor of Arts from Rutgers State University in 1960, a master's of Psychology from Seton Hall University in 1967, and a Doctorate of Education from Rutgers State University's Graduate School of Education in 1989.
He was the caring and devoted dad to his four daughters, Jenifer Sue Kucsan and her husband Stephen of East Amwell, NJ, Amy Lynn Bashford and her husband Donald of Milford, NJ, Beth Ann Feaster and her husband Rick of Washington, NJ, and Rachel Leigh Pyke and her husband Marc of Stroudsburg, PA. Alan was also the proud grandfather to four granddaughters, Kirsten Jade Bashford, Alexa Rose Bashford, Hannah Pearl Feaster and Jenna Emily Pyke. He will be missed by his four-legged friends as well, Jack and Maggie. He was the beloved brother of William Jacobowitz and his wife Dalia of Livingston, NJ and Carol Ann and her husband Dr. Howard Alex of Marlboro, NJ. He was a loving uncle and great-uncle to his nieces and nephews. Alan lived for his family and always put their needs first. He will be greatly missed and forever loved.
Funeral Services are Sunday, March 22, at 1:30pm at Congregation Beth Chaim, 329 Village Rd., Princeton Junction. A reception will follow at 2:30pm. The family will be observing Shiva on Monday the 23 and Tuesday the 24 from 5-7pm at the home of Beth Ann and Rick Feaster. Additional Shiva will be held at the home of William and Dalia Jacobowitz on Monday and Tuesday from 3-5pm and 6-8pm, and the home of Carol Ann and Howard Alex TBD. Arrangements by Orland's Ewing Memorial Chapel, 1534 Pennington Rd., Ewing Township, NJ.
