Andrew Snyder Sr.

Branchburg - 92, passed away October 20, 2018. Andy was born and raised in Three Bridges, and formerly of Bridgewater for many years and retired in Largo, Florida, moving to reside with their son Andrew in Branchburg in 2004. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, Seaman 1st Class, serving on the USS Kenneth D. Bailey, the gearing-class destroyer during WWII. He was employed as a construction foreman at Vollers Excavating & Construction Company in Branchburg. Andrew was a member of the Three Bridges Reformed Church. He was also a member of the Green Knoll Fire Company in Bridgewater since 1960 where he was currently the oldest living life volunteer member of the fire department. He had a love for sports, including football, baseball, stock car racing, water sports, skiing and sailing. Andy was a devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather and great grandfather who will be missed by his family and friends.

Surviving are his loving wife of 66 years, Elizabeth Potter, sons Andrew and his wife Vicki and Harold and his wife Terri, a daughter Linda Drake and her husband John, a brother Walter Snyder and half-sister Elizabeth Suydam, six grandchildren, Jennifer, Andrea, Amanda, Ryan, Courtney and Katelynn and three great grandchildren, Andrew, Isabella and Casey.

Funeral services will be 11 am Thursday at Bruce C. VanArsdale Funeral Home, 111 N. Gaston Ave, Somerville. Interment at Somerset Hills Memorial Park in Basking Ridge. Visitation will be 5 to 8pm Wednesday with Fireman Service at 7pm at the funeral home.
