AGE: 91 • North Brunswick

Andrew Szilva Jr., 91, died Friday, September 22, 2017 at his home in North Brunswick, New Jersey.

Mr. Szilva was born September 27, 1925 in New Brunswick, New Jersey to the late Andrew Sr. and Piroska Szilva. . He later relocated and settled with his loving wife Mary and son Andrew in North Brunswick.

Andrew honorably served in the US Merchant Marines during World War II. He was a master mechanic for Public Service Gas, where he worked for many years until his retirement. After leaving Public Service he operated an auto parts supply, Odell Auto. He was an active member of the North Brunswick Republic Club. Andrew was an avid fisherman and treasured family visits to their lake house in Maine. Most of all, he adored he wife, Mary; she was his best friend and biggest fan.

Mr. Szilva was predeceased by his loving wife, Mary Szilva.

He is survived by his son, Andrew Szilva III; his daughter, Sandra Szilva; his three grandchildren, Ashlyn Szilva, Richard & Stephanie Keri; and his great grandchild, Kyle.

Visitation will be held at Gleason Funeral Home, 1360 Hamilton Street, Somerset, NJ on Wednesday, September 27th from 6-9 PM.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 28, 2017 at 10:30 A.M. at Gleason Funeral Home. Burial will follow at St. Peter Cemetery in New Brunswick.
