Angelo C. "Poppy" Domenichini

AGE: 101 • Green Brook

Angelo C. "Poppy" Domenichini, 101, formerly of North Plainfield passed into the Hands of Our Lord on Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2011 at the N J Eastern Star Home in Bridgewater. Mr. Domenichini was born and raised in Lenola, Latina, Italy, and came to North Plainfield in 1929. Angelo first worked as a Tailor for Browning 5th Avenue in Linden and later retired from Howell Electric of Plainfield. He served with Honor as a US Marine, Veteran of WWII. He was a member of St. Joseph RC Church in North Plainfield for 77 years, a member of the Lenolese Society, and the Italian-American Club of North Plainfield. In 2010, his 100th year, he was honored by his Italian hometown, Lenola as a distinguished citizen, and celebrated by hundreds of his family members and friends on both sides of the Atlantic. He received personal greetings from Pope Benedict XVI and from President Obama, and was featured with two of his seven great-grandchildren, in the 2009 Annual Report of Pfizer Inc.

He was predeceased by his wife, the loving Nancy Fittipaldi Domenichini in 2004. Surviving is a daughter, in which he lived with, Natalie and her husband Joseph Farry of Green Brook, and a son, Paul John and his wife Mona Domenichini of Missouri City, Texas. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Michelle Apsley, Dr. Renee Foster, Joseph F. Farry III, Dominique Bartlett, Paul John Jr., and Amber Rose Domenichini; seven great-grandchildren, Rachel Apsley, Shaun Apsley, Daniel Farry, Mia Rose Farry, Jesse Foster, Giancarlo Foster, and Annika Shay Bartlett.

Services will start 9 a.m. Monday from the Scarpa Funeral Home, 22 Craig Place, North Plainfield, followed by a 10 a.m. Mass at St. Joseph RC Church in North Plainfield. Entombment will take place in Holy Redeemer Mausoleum in South Plainfield. Visiting hours are Sunday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: St. Joseph RC Church, 99 Westervelt Avenue, North Plainfield, N.J. 07060 or to: Talk About Curing Autism, In Honor of Great-Grandson Daniel Farry, 2222 Martin St., Suite 140, Irvine, CA 92612.
