Anne Moore Obituary

Anne M. McLaughlin Moore

AGE: 79 • Formerly of Neptune City

Anne Marie McLaughlin Moore of Aiken, SC (longtime resident of Neptune City, NJ) passed away on Saturday, June 20, 2015 after a brief illness, she was to be 80 years of age on July 4, 2015. Born on July 4, 1935 in Jersey City, NJ, Anne lived the majority of her life here at the Jersey Shore, moving to Aiken, SC in 2007. She recently stated that some of the best times of her life were her 35 years working on Wall Street in the Human Resource industry. During that time she made many friends commuting to New York and she was proud of the many job placements she made for young high school and college graduates, many of whom became highly successful executives in their own right. Upon her retirement from NYC in 1993, Anne began another well loved job at the clubhouse at Monmouth Racetrack in Oceanport, NJ. Anne loved anything to do with racehorses as she grew up the daughter of famed Jersey City Mounted Division horseman Leo McLaughlin (1904-1964) and was around both race horses and show horses throughout her childhood.

She is also predeceased by her mother the late Mary Margaret McLaughlin (nee Greene) (1905-1981) and her son-in-law the late Mark Schaefer of Avon, NJ (1950-2003). Anne is survived by her five children; Gail Hanusek Schaefer (David Sawicki), New Bedford, MA, Laura Hanusek Sherman (Richard), St. Helena, SC, Suzanne Hanusek Kremp (Patrick), Point Pleasant, NJ, Christopher M. Hanusek (Sherri Chernack), Cumming, GA, and Meghan Moore Ostroff (Myles), Falmouth, MA. Anne often said that her five children were her greatest accomplishment to life and the reason she was placed on this earth. Anne was affectionately known as Grandee to her grandchildren Corey Sherman Gilfoil, Stephen Schaefer, Aimee Sherman Joseph, Justin Schaefer, Brittany Sherman Jones, Meghan Kremp, Maggie and Molly Hanusek, Ella and Leo Ostroff and great-grandmother to seven great grandsons, Wyles, Bruin, Tyus, Eli, Riggs, Phinn and Sam. She is also survived by her brother, Leo McLaughlin of Irvine, CA. Anne loved cooking, reading and visiting her children.

Her internment will be privately held at a later date.

To Gail, Laura, Christopher, Meghan, and to Suzanne - My most sincere and heartfelt condolences on the loss of your Mom. I hope she has found peace and that you can take some measure of comfort from the memories you have of her in life. I'm certain that what I write here can in no way ease the grief you must be feeling, but know that I cared for Anne and I enjoyed knowing her during that brief time when all of our lives intersected. To all of you and your families, God bless.

My sweet Anne. We spent countless hours talking about so many things. I loved to hear stories about you growing up in New York, raising your children, and that endless commute into the City every day for work. I'm so blessed that Laura brought you to my restaurant when you first moved to Aiken. That's when our friendship began. As time went on, our visits were around your kitchen table, often times with Jeff also. Many times sharing a meal together. Anne, I love you, but you knew that because I told you that often. I will miss you my friend. You will always live in my heart.
