AGE: 85 • Edison
Bessie A. Samat, 85, of Edison, died Thursday, February 19, 2015 at JFK Medical Center in Edison.
Born in Greensborough, NC, she had resided in Brooklyn and Staten Island before moving to Edison in 1996. She was a member of the Red Hat Ladies. She enjoyed reading, old movies, line-dancing, and most of all spending time with her family.
She is predeceased by her husband of 47 years, Kassim Samat; and a brother, William Graves.
She is survived by her two children, Rokiah Barry and her husband Harvey of Whitehouse Station, and Yaz Samat and his wife Rosalie of Metuchen; two grandchildren, Aishah Barry and Samantha Barry-Agostino; two great-grandchildren, Valentina and Vanessa Agostino; a sister, Oaklea Dembo of Oceanside, NY; a sister- in-law, Sadia Graves of Greensborough, NC; and several nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service will take place on Monday, February 23, 2015 at 10:00 AM at the Costello-Runyon Funeral Home, 568 Middlesex Ave. (RT 27) Metuchen, followed by entombment at Woodbridge Memorial Gardens in Woodbridge.
Visitation is Sunday from 1-3 & 6-8 PM.
